The Oil PC - Mineral Oil vs. Vegetable Oil Video

The motherboard and chip used in this video are being auctioned off on ebay here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370215487289

This is the first segment of our quest for extreme PC cooling using oil. We originaly did this for a chemistry project, but we are in the process of building a monster rig to break some records!!!

Just for the record: Thet's see a Mac do this!!!!

it will not conduct ...
it will not conduct electricity plus it? wont ionize

it will ionize that ...
it will ionize that is not good thing? for pc :(

You doing? physics ...
You doing? physics or chemistry?

Chemically, oil is ...
Chemically, oil is a hydrocarbon. All the electrons in the molecules are stuck in their covalent bonds. Because the electrons are locked, they cannot flow. No flow = no movement of electrons = no current Water however, has two lone pairs on its oxygen atom. These are free to go and react with other substances hence it is conductive. Movement of electrons = movement of? charge = current.

If by didn't go the ...
If by didn't go the way you though you mean it? went EXACTLY the way you thought XD

bcus it doesnt ...
bcus it doesnt conduct electricity. Think of it just? as very heavy air.

How does the oil ...
How does the oil not mess up the computer components and such? Just wondering?

does vegetable oil ...
does vegetable oil have bad? smell?

what about setting ...
what about setting up a peltier cooler and allow the oil? to cool the hot side of the peltier?

p12 ?
p12 ?

yer but the water ...
yer but the water will eat away at the metal parts and collect the? iron and become conductive :)

Stoner's? on how to ...
Stoner's? on how to build a Mineral Cooled PC

trust me its not? a ...
trust me its not? a good idea....

Where did you get? ...
Where did you get? all that mineral oil? How much?

pure water is also ...
pure water is also non? conductable

water conducts ...
water conducts electricity, oil does not...?

ok?
ok?

the people who give ...
the people who give you your f**king android? phone, Flat screen TVs etc.

You don't use water ...
You don't use water... that will fry your PC! Oil is ok, since it's non-conductiong. Meaning, electricity will not traverse trough the oil instead of the intended curcuits. While wateris more or less conducting - depending on different factors. Even-non-conductiong water will still build up electricity, you'd probably just delay it with anything between a few seconds to a few? minutes - not sure, I only read a litle about this. But I don't know how the ice in the oil would affect the system...

nerds?
nerds?

just OIL!! it's ...
just OIL!! it's non? conductive, NEVER WATER

and where you got? ...
and where you got? the liquid nitrogen?

They are normal PC ...
They are normal PC components but you dont want to put any CD roms drives or hard disk drives in the oil at all. Other than? that everything else will be fine. You may want to use larger low rpm fans too as they will be affected much less by the oil than smaller high rpm fans.

The problem is that ...
The problem is that most oils break down when exposed? to heat and air. But very interesting

wow is it okay to ...
wow is it okay to put water or oil? inside the cpu?

That just spells ...
That just spells out no life right there....its not like a good cpu liquid cooler like a H100? can't handle overclocks..

not for? breathing
not for? breathing

Oil? is better than ...
